Swat state was established in 1915 by a saeed from Buner named syed abdul Jabar Shah, but he was toppled by a jirga in wat
in 1919 and miangul abdul wadood alias bacha sahib, father wali of swat, Miangul \Jehanzeb was decalred king of the state.
but then british govt in india objected that king or queen will only be in
britain
so his title from king was changed and officially recognised as wali of sawt. this title remianed even when his son Miangul
Jehanzeb took power. the permenant land settlement in the state including buner, swat and shangla took place in 1926 thus
putting an end to the era of pukhto. during the pukhto era, clans living in different villages would use to change their position
and one clan would shift to the other village and vice versa. the tribe in entire sawt state is yusufzai but the sub-tribe
living in gadezai tehsil is ilyaszai, which is a branch of the bigger tribe.
